Some of my clients ask me ask me how I audit them and what benefits they can receive by me auditing them.
Firstly, there are three reasons why clients want to be audited. They want to receive their Certificate of Recognition which gives them 5% back on WCB premiums and 10% back if it is first time in Alberta from the Worker’s Compensation Board of Alberta.
Another reason is for bid requirements. It is a way of getting on bid lists to show that you have met a standard that is the same for everybody; comparing apples to apples – the Certificate of Recognition process.
It is also a way of benchmarking to ensure that your safety program is checked much like a medical checkup to ensure that it is operating at peak efficiency.
So some of the benefits I bring to my clients is a little self-examination by an outside practitioner. I can point out the strengths and opportunities for improvement and you as the client can build on your strengths and run with your opportunities for improvement. You can track them and greatly improve your health and safety program so you become a world-class organization.
For bid requirements you will know very quickly how you stack up and if you get high ratings on the audit you can use it as a sales tool as well to capture more clients. Often when doing audits I uncover areas that people weren’t aware of such as areas where technology can improve things such as the app for manufacturer’s health and safety, for legislation and some technologies which are greatly enhancing safety like the use of algorithms, things like that.
So those are how I audit my clients and these are some of the key benefits I bring to my clients.
