Barb shares a practice she calls the “two-tier orientation system”. The first tier consists of training new employees only on legislative requirements. After completing this tier of training, she recommends asking the new employee if they are still interested in staying with the company before rolling out the second tier which will be a more focused training. She stresses also having a good exit strategy in place which includes asking exiting employees why they are leaving so that you can use that information to enhance the work environment for current and new employees.
